Multilingual Factsheet: Getting a License as a Temporary Foreign Worker in Manitoba

Manitoba licensing laws require that non-residents obtain a Manitoba driver’s licence to continue driving in Manitoba three months after their arrival in the province. After arriving here, you will need to switch your valid licence to a Manitoba driver’s licence, so it is best to start this process as soon as possible. Temporary foreign agricultural workers, including agricultural exchange students, must obtain a Manitoba licence to drive in Manitoba after three months.

The Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has a designated webpage to explain this further in English, with the suggestion to use browser-supported translation tools for other languages.

With funding from the TFW Coordination Project under Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), in 2022/23, MANSO has coordinated the translation of the MPI factsheet to Tagalog and Spanish to better help our members in engaging and supporting migrant workers.

About MANSO

The Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO) is an umbrella organization for immigrant and refugee service providers in the Province of Manitoba. MANSO provides leadership, support and a unified voice for the settlement and integration sector, including core settlement services, language training, employment services, and welcoming communities programs.

Our office is located on Treaty One Territory, the ancestral land of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak (Cree), Dakota, and on the homeland of the Métis. Our land acknowledgment is not fixed but living. It is fluid and open to change as we continue to learn.
