Vicarious Trauma and Resilience: Caring for Ourselves and Each Other

June 10 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Vicarious Trauma and Resilience: Caring for Ourselves and Each Other

June 10th, 2019; 9:00am – 12:00pm

Experiencing the struggles and hardships of our clients can be difficult as we try to balance responsibilities and expectations in work and in life. Vicarious trauma often occurs as a result of caring and identifying with the pain of others. At times, the work can feel isolating and exhausting. Celebrating growth and creating space to share experiences can encourage and sustain vicarious resilience. This intro session will build understanding of vicarious trauma and provide strategies for building resilience.

Staff of MANSO members may register online free.  Accessibility accommodations available upon request.

Building Resilience in Response to Vicarious Trauma

June 10th, 2019; 1:00pm – 4:00pm

The stress and trauma we are exposed to at work and in our daily lives can have a lasting impact on our overall health, wellness, and relationships. Understanding these impacts can help us to engage in more intentional and sustainable ways. This session will review causes and impacts of vicarious trauma and expand to focus on how we can do this work through a trauma-informed lens applied inward toward our individual and collective wellness as service providers.

This session is designed for service providers who have already participated in a Vicarious Trauma workshop with Aurora Family Therapy Centre.

Staff of MANSO members may register online free.  Accessibility accommodations available upon request.
